The city of Glendale is located nine miles northwest of Downtown Phoenix.
Although a century ago, the area was nothing more than an empty desert, Glendale has boomed into a busy suburb of Phoenix and a landmark destination for sporting events.
Glendale is the site of two major sports and entertainment venues: University of Phoenix Stadium and Gila River Arena. Both venues are part of the Glendale Sports and Entertainment District development plan.
The University of Phoenix Stadium is the home field of the Arizona Cardinals, and it also hosted the 2015 Super Bowl.
